BECSA participates in a meeting on construction and climate change in EXCO 2016

Within the framework of the 30th Salon EXCO 2016 that has taken place this February in Feria Valencia, the Green Building Council España (GBCe) Executive Director has presented the conclusions of the working table “Construction Challenges to contribute to the accomplishment of Paris COP21 commitments”.

In these round table discussions BECSA has participated together with a group of key sectors experts in order to promote the transition towards a low greenhouse gas emissions economy such as those in Public Administrations, Financial World or Universities.

One of the most important conclusions of the meeting, based on studies done by various international organisations such as The UN and The Organization for the Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), was that in 2050 the rise in global temperature could reach 2 degrees Celsius due to the greenhouse gas emissions from the construction sector.

In that sense, concepts of Energy Transition toward a low-carbon emission economy model, Environmental Habitability and its connection with energy poverty and the need of establishing lifecycle analysis criteria and Circular Economy in the construction sector were introduced.
